It forms part of a larger restoration project involving a 200 year old, two-storey Georgian Schoolhouse on the outskirts of Minane Bridge.
The building was scheduled for demolition some years ago and the local community bought it and began a three phase project of restoration which involved restoring the original building then adding a contemporary extension with office, kitchen and toilets and finally - the theatre itself.
Opened in 2014 by Irish playwright, Enda Walsh, the Tracton Arts Centre has gone from strength to strength. |
The theatre is located in the middle of the countryside and yet easily rivals what we normally expect to see happening artistically in larger towns and cities. This is a venture that truly deserves to be supported. - Martin Hayes |
