Tracton Arts Festival 2016 Daily Events:WEDNESDAY: 7pm: Opening of Exhibitions and launch of Tracton Arts Festival 2016 by John Fitzpatrick, Director of the Cork Choral Festival. All welcome. Tracton Artists Annual Show: Established in 2008, a group of about 25 both professional and amateur, who live and work in the parish of Tracton. A multi disciplined group including painters, potters, woodturners, batik artists, jewellers, printmakers and photographers. Colours in a Box: exhibition of soft pastel by students of Victor Richardson, displaying the vibrancy and versatility of the medium. 7pm - late: FOOD & REFRESHMENTS 9pm: The Moody Roots - 5 piece soul band THURSDAY: 11am - 5pm, 7pm - 9pm: ART EXHIBITIONS OPEN 8pm: Rose - acclaimed one woman play performed by Fiona York FRIDAY: 11am - 5pm, 7pm - 9pm: ART EXHIBITIONS OPEN 7pm - late: FOOD & REFRESHMENTS 8pm: Mick Flannery - supported by acoustic guitar duo, Rianoir SATURDAY: (day time events are either free or will incur a small door fee) 11am - 10pm: ART EXHIBITIONS OPEN 2pm: PRESENTATION: by Alison Hackett author and curator of Visual Time Traveller 2pm: WORKSHOP: with artist Karin Jansen - Intuitive non-figurative painting where focus will be on abstract landscape, abstract flower, colour and texture. No experience needed. 2pm - 5pm: COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECT everybody welcome to take part. 3pm: STORY TELLING: Paddy O’Brien will tell stories for children. 3pm: PAINTING DEMO: Dorothée Roberts, a painter equally comfortable using oils, acrylics or watercolours. Today she will demonstrate her spontaneous and vibrant style using watercolours and a lucky viewer will win her painting. 4pm: ILLUSTRATED TALK: Jasper Winn, writer, photographer, broadcaster, public speaker and the author of ‘PADDLE; A long way around Ireland’ will share stories of the thousand mile sea-kayak circumnavigation of Ireland and the many adventures along the way. 2pm - late: Hot Food and refreshments available 8pm: The Light Runners - reggae funk collective supported by funk band MB Soul Review SUNDAY: (daytime events are either free or will incur a small door fee) 11 am - 8pm: ART EXHIBITIONS OPEN 1pm-late: Hot Food, refreshments and entertainment. Taste Gidi’s spit roast and enjoy Sunday Lunch with a difference. Buskers welcome. 1pm: MARKET in the MARQUEE craft and coffee, plants and pizza, face painting and much more. 1pm - 5pm: COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECT everybody welcome to take part. 1pm: SILK PAINTING DEMO: Maree O’Sullivan, will demonstrate the various effects as paint touches silk. A member of the audience will win her piece. 2pm: THROWING DEMO: Clare Greene, ceramicist, will demonstrate the art of using the potters wheel. 3pm: TALK: by Chris Young of The Irish Chilli Farm - chillies, turmeric and lemon grass, one persons journey into exotic market gardening in Ireland. 3pm: STORY TELLING: Paddy O’Brien will entertain the kids. 4pm: ILLUSTRATED TALK: Join marine biologist and photographer, Mick Mackey, for his presentation on 900 days on Bird Island, South Georgia, working in Antarctic isolation. 6.30pm: Cabaret Evening - The Stargazers and singer Lorraine Hogan with guitarist Sam Barker. |
